The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has congratulated Yusuf Ali on the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree, Doctor of Laws (LLD), by the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA).

The association described the distinguished honour as a recognition of his remarkable contributions to the legal profession, his unwavering commitment to justice, and his enduring impact on national development. ANA noted that the award stands as a fitting tribute to a man whose career has consistently exemplified excellence, discipline, and integrity.

In its message, the association described Yusuf Ali as a towering figure in Nigeria’s legal landscape, whose professional journey has been defined by diligence, intellectual depth, and ethical consistency. It observed that over the years, he has played a significant role in shaping legal thought and practice in the country, earning widespread respect among his peers and the broader society.

ANA emphasized that the conferment of the Doctor of Laws (LLD) represents a clear acknowledgment of his outstanding achievements and far-reaching influence.

The association further commended Yusuf Ali for his sustained support and encouragement of literary and educational initiatives. It noted that his contributions to the growth of knowledge, as well as his interest in intellectual and cultural development, have made a meaningful impact beyond the legal field.

ANA stressed that individuals who bridge professional excellence with support for the arts and education are vital to the advancement of a well-rounded and enlightened society.

ANA also highlighted the ANA/Yusuf Ali Nationwide Literary Awareness Campaign as clear evidence of his commitment to literary development in Nigeria. The initiative, established in 2012, has been sustained through an annual grant generously provided by him, with funds disbursed to ANA chapters nationwide to implement grassroots literary programmes.

Through school outreaches, writing workshops, literary competitions, book distribution projects such as “A Book A Child,” and capacity-building initiatives, the campaign has successfully engaged thousands of students, writers, and communities, thereby strengthening literary appreciation and participation across the country.

The association further applauded the University of Abuja for its decision to honour distinguished Nigerians whose work has made meaningful contributions to society.

It noted that such recognitions not only celebrate individual achievements but also serve as a source of inspiration for younger generations striving for excellence in their respective fields.

In conclusion, ANA expressed pride in Yusuf Ali’s well-earned recognition and wished him continued success in all his future endeavours, while urging others to draw inspiration from his exemplary life and reaffirming its commitment to celebrating Nigerians whose achievements contribute to national growth and intellectual advancement.
