MAIDEN EDITION OF HRM EZE M. O. KANU /ANA PRIZE FOR YOUNG ADULT LITERATURE

CALL FOR ENTRIES

INTRODUCTION:

The Association of Nigerian Authors is pleased to announce the maiden edition of the HRM EZE M.O. KANU/ANA PRIZE for Young Adult Literature. 

The Prize is endowed by the estate of the Late HRM Eze Dr Sir Maxwell Omeire Kanu [KSC]. Until his death, HRM Eze Kanu was the traditional ruler of Ezejie Autonomous community of Arondizuogu in Ideato LGA of Imo State. He was also the former chairman of the popular Agura Hotel in Abuja. He was a patron of the arts and supportive of literary activities in his lifetime. 

The Prize is aimed at immortalizing his legacy, promoting reading among youths and to reward excellence in the development of Young Adult Literature in Nigeria.

PRIZE MONEY: 

300,000: 00 [Three hundred thousand Naira only.]

RULES FOR ENTRY

*Only published books are eligible for entry.

 The book must have been published not later than 2024.

*Entries may be submitted by the author or publisher of the work.

 

*Authors are restricted to one single work per entry.

*Only physically published works will be considered for the competition.

Electronically published works are not eligible for this competition.

*A submitted book must not have won a similar prize prior.

*Publishers are eligible to submit as many works as possible but not more than one book by the same author.

*All submissions must be accompanied by six copies of the book and a signed entry letter by author or the publisher.

*Authors are encouraged to submit only original works as ANA will not be responsible for any copyright infringement.

*An entry fee of N10,000:00 [Ten thousand Naira] only should be accompanied with a deposit slip indicating payment is required. Payment should be made in favour of: The Association of Nigerian Authors. Bank: First Bank of Nigeria Plc.  Account Number: 202054338.

Any submission that does not comply with the above rules will not be considered for the Award.

The judges decision is final.

Members of the National Executive Council [NEC] of ANA as well as members of the HRM Eze M.O. Kanu family are not eligible to take part in the competition.

Members of the families of the Jury and their relatives are not eligible to contest.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION

The deadline for the receipt of all entries is 30th June, 2026. A shortlist will be announced in August 2026. The Winner of the Maiden edition of the Prize will be announced at the Award Dinner Night during the International Annual Convention of the Association of Nigerian Authors in November, 2026.
