ANA MBARI SERIES TO HONOUR LATE PROF. BIODUN JEYIFO AT MARCH 2026 EDITION

The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has announced the March 2026 edition of its Mbari Series, a flagship quarterly gathering of intellectuals, writers, and thought leaders dedicated to advancing literary discourse in Nigeria and beyond.
The event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 28 March 2026, at 11:00 a.m. prompt at the ANA National Secretariat, Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village, Mpape Road, Abuja.
This edition, themed “Narratives of Now: Writing Through Crisis and Change,” will celebrate the legacy of the late Professor Biodun Jeyifo, a distinguished scholar, critic, and literary icon whose contributions to African literature and cultural studies remain significant. The gathering is designed to stimulate critical reflections on the role of literature in addressing contemporary societal challenges.
Dr. Abba Abba will serve as the Headliner, delivering insights on writing and intellectual engagement in periods of crisis and transformation. The event will be hosted by Professor Udenta O. Udenta, who serves as the Chief Host.
The panel session will feature respected voices in the literary community, including Professor Ifeoma Onyemelukwe, Dr. Taofeek Olatunbosun, and Mr. Diego Okenyodo, who will offer diverse perspectives on the theme and contribute to a rich and engaging discourse.
The session will be chaired by Professor Kyuka Lilymjok, while Mallam Denja Abdullahi will serve as Moderator, supported by Co-Moderator, Ms. Ngozi Alutulu-Ebulum. Their combined expertise is expected to guide thoughtful and impactful conversations throughout the event.
In a statement, the ANA President, Dr. Usman Oladipo Akanbi, noted that the Mbari Series continues to serve as an important platform for intellectual exchange and literary engagement. He stated that this edition not only honours the memory of Professor Biodun Jeyifo but also encourages writers to respond creatively and critically to the realities of the present moment.
